Empowerment Program

NEW HAVEN, CT, (January 29, 2024) - Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs, Inc. is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the city of Waterbury to introduce the Career and College Empowerment Program aimed at local 8th-grade students. On June 29, 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College that race-conscious admissions programs at Harvard College and the University of North Carolina violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Higher Heights Expands Efforts to Reach Students in Connecticut - Joins Forces with The Common Black College Application and the Prosperity Foundation

NEW HAVEN, CT (December 18, 2023) - Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs, Inc. is proud to announce its official partnership with the Common Black College Application (CBCA), a prestigious platform exclusive to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Read more.

 

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 30, 2023) - Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs (Higher Heights) announced today a partnership with the University of New Haven (UNH) to create the Higher Heights Scholarship, a four-year award totaling $80,000, to students in the Higher Heights program. Read more.

Our Staff is Nationally Recognized

Meet Jermal Muhammad, a second-year Member at Public  Allies Connecticut. Jermal is the Lead College Access Advisor at Higher    Heights Youth Empowerment   Program (HHYEP) where he has been piloting a citywide FAFSA   completion drive in New Haven,   Connecticut. When we checked in with Jermal, he had already held 8 FAFSA  workshops and assisted over 150 students to complete their FAFSA forms. Read more.

COLLEGE APPLICATION DAY

November 9, 2018

Hamden High School partners with Higher Heights to host their "College Application Day Event".  Approximately 200 students participated in the event. Dan Cocchiola, Coordinator of College and Career Pathways at Hamden High School, stated, “There is no question that yesterday was a success for our students. Thank you [Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Program] for your vision and insight and patience in helping some of our student leaders begin to find their way as a cornerstone in our collaboration. I look forward to continuing this program in the coming years.”  Read more

 

COLLEGE ADVISING PARTNERSHIP A SUCCESS IN NEW HAVEN, CT

The 2017-2018 Executive Summary reports shows how our College Advising Program successfully supported a New Haven Public School achieve 99% college application submissions and increase FAFSA submissions.  Read more in the 2018 School Partnership Report
